Wigs,Wigs,Wigs!!

Wigs,Wigs,Wigs!!

It’s a word that often you will hear people whisper, but here at Halo we are shouting from the rooftops about the new private wig studio and wig service we are running! !
We started thinking about running a service in 2017 to provide wigs to clients, and with every new client, our service is evolving, changing and adapting to the needs of the individuals we are seeing and the ever-changing world of hair loss.

There have been many reasons which have spurred us on as a team to create this very bespoke service. We have all had personal relationships with family and friends who are going through chemotherapy, or hair loss related to male pattern baldness or alopecia. All of these people have found it hard to find a salon where they feel comfortable and can relax. I have to say that we have had clients who have been in hysterics when trying on their selection of wigs, which is lovely to hear!
We have also been very pleased to offer our wig services out to clients in the Transgender community, again this is something we feel passionate about, inclusion of everyone in the services we provide as a salon.

Our number one reason for offering appointments when the salon is closed on a Monday, and also creating a private wig studio so that clients do not need to go in to the main salon was again to put that individual at the heart of our process. This service is so much more than a haircut, or a fitting, it is part of the psychological medicine needed to face the world on a daily basis and regain some normality when you could be facing your darkest times.
The consultation process enables Steven to gain an insight in to what this client wants from his or her hair. Some clients visit us when they have already lost their hair, and some come at the start of treatment and request Steven to shave their head at their fitting. Every client is coming to us on a different journey and it is that very personal consultation process which enables Steven to understand where their journey is going.

To be registered as a My New Hair salon, Steven had to undergo Education, which is created and supported by Trevor Sorbie. Since doing this initial training both Harry and Steven have been to a specialist educational provider Aderans, for training in fitting and blending male top pieces.

My new hair is working in partnership with the Department of Health and The Institute of Trichologists.

We have spent time talking to the wonderful staff at Macmillan at our local hospital and also at the centers around the area, which help to sign post people to services which can help. We have discovered small nuggets of information everywhere we go which we are then able to pass on to clients.
We have created a specialist after care service, as the wigs are worn regularly, and will need maintenance to ensure they look as good as the day they leave the salon, they may need washing and styling or even trimming. We are going to be a part of the journey this client is on and we want it to be a part which helps them fight against it with confidence.
